POST 12: SECONDARY RESEARCH

The purpose of this task is to get facts, statistics, footage and useful information to help us support our points and arguments in our documentary. We can present this research using off screen narration which will allow us to show on screen things that are relevant to what we are saying. From this task i have learnt more about my topic such as the reasons why teen's use technology and the disadvantages of it. By doing this task i have gained a valuable insight into the codes and conventions, genre representation and target audience. From this research we have gained a clear understanding of out topic which will help us structure our documentary. The main things we focused on when doing this task was articles relating to technology and facts/statistics swell as videos

POST 11: PROPOSAL [PART TWO]

POST 11: PROPOSAL [PART ONE]

POST 10: IDEAS FOR OUR DOCUMENTARY

POST 9: GENERAL STATEMENT

POST 8: MODES OF DOCUMENTARIES

The purpose of this research is to get an idea of what mode of documentary to make. every documentary has one off these modes or more than one. From this research we have decided to choose participatory mode. From this research i have seen examples of each mode and i have learnt the conventions from each one. The different modes of documentary each have different meanings. For example i learnt that the reflexive mode creates meaning by engaging the viewer actively with the issue. In our documentary we will create meaning by doing this and also by using the participatary mode. We can also create meaning through the use of mis-en-scene. The target audience is going to be teens and adults age between 18 - 40 as this is the age range that uses the technology the most so our documentary would appeal to age group.

POST 4: TYPES OF DOCUMENTARY

The purpose of this task is to decide what type of documentary we should make. From doing this research i have seen examples of each type and the conventions of them. From this we have decided that that our documentary is going to be self reflective.  This is when the narrator to the documentary contributes a lot of input and speaks directly to the camera. This is makes it more engaging for the audience and this type of documentary will fit well with the topic of technology.  This type of documentary creates meaning by directly addressing the viewer throughout by speaking into the camera. The target audience of this type of documentary is similar to out target audience which ranges from 18-40.

POST 2: EXPLAINING THE TASKS

INTRODUCTION TO BLOG

Hello, we are all A2 Media Studies students and are working together as a group for our coursework project.

My name is Tom (I'm on the far left) I do A2 Media, Business and IT.

My name is Sohail (I'm in the middle) and I study A2 English Language and Literature,  A2 Drama and Theatre Studies and A2 Media Studies.

My name us Amarjit (far right) and i study A2 Media, A2 Maths, and A2 Law.

The things we learned last year were how to use Photoshop, InDesign and Prezi as well as using cameras in order to create authentic Magazine covers and contents pages. This was something that was new to us, and our skills in editing images in Photoshop progressed immensely over the course of a year. In A2 Media Studies, our skills will be tested again through the task of making a documentary opening, and two other tasks. We are hoping that our skills will develop as a group through the duration of this coursework project, and that we will be able to edit video footage just as sophisticated as we did with images in the AS Module.
